As part of its campaign, “This is my story, I am still human”, the Universal Coalition of Affirming Africans (UCAA) Uganda has launched this interview with Bishop James, leader of the Divine Liberty Centre Ministries in Wobulenzi, Uganda. In this moving interview, Bishop James speaks about his experiences as an openly gay religious leader in a country where homosexuality is highly controversial. In the video, Bishop James addresses his fellow religious leaders, saying:

No-one's salvation depends on what we do or think or believe about gender or sexuality. Our theological conviction should never be motivated by fear and condemnation. One thing I know, that the future of the LGBT in Africa and Uganda is colourful and bright.

The Universal Coalition of Affirming Africans (UCAA) Uganda is a partner in the SERENE project. It's current campaign “This is my story, I am still human” aims to provide insight into the lives of LGBTQ+ Ugandans in order to enhance understanding, recognition, and inclusion.
